Taking Advantage

We've had water restrictions here since last August - no using the water outdoors to water the yard, wash the car or anything else. If you do and get caught there is a $250 fine. The water company decided a few weeks ago that they wanted to raise the rates by 15% because they didn't make enough money last year because of the water restrictions. Everyone was in an uproar because we were going to be punished for conserving water by the water company raising the rates. It was voted down - a huge surprise!

Last week the city sprayed insecticide all over the county to kill the canker worms that are eating up the trees, so the city/county/water company decided to lift the water restrictions for a week so everyone can wash their cars. Sounds to me like a politically correct way to make money by using more water. Either way I took advantage of the opportunity to wash my car at home. I like a clean car and it's been several months since I've washed it at home.

By-the-way.... We've had good amounts of rain the past couple months and the rivers and lakes are full again, but the water restrictions are still in place.

mom told me about the planes spreading insecticide. Sounds crazy. Typical for the water company to raise the rates...but at least you car is clean for now.
