Bass Lake Outing

We went to Bass Lake today for a photo outing with the camera club. We left at about 3:30 in the morning to get up there to the Parkway before sunrise. The weatherman got it wrong again because it turned out to be cloudy, unlike their forcast, so we didn't get to see the sun rise. I wanted to get some summer images up that way and I was able to get a few on that section of the Parkway. We drove the Parkway toward Blowing Rock and there were several wildflowers growing along the side of the road, so we stopped to take pictures of them. It rained for a little bit, so we waited it out, then headed over to Flat Top Manor where we had a picnic lunch. The manor overlooks Bass Lake, but there were so many clouds blowing through that you couldn't see the lake. It was pretty cool watching the clouds blow by below us. We drove on down to Bass Lake and took pictures after walking around for a little while. The skies cleared up and the sun was shining by late afternoon when we were pretty tired and decided to make the trek back home. The day went by quick, but I think we got a few decent shots.
