The Winning Shot

Basketball camp is going pretty well for Jullian - he's having a good time. Each week they work on drills they've learned on previous days, but also add on to what they've learned each week. The coaches also throw in a game or two for fun and the game puts to use the skills they've been working on while giving them a little friendly competition. The game they played tonight split all the kids into two teams. Their team had to make certain shots from different positions on the court with the final basket being a shot from the three-point line. The kids got in their respective lines and were given one chance to shoot and make a basket. If they made it the team would advance to the next position, if not the next kid in line would attempt the shot until someone made it. The two teams progressed along at a pretty even pace until it got to the last basket they had to make - the three-point shot. Over and over and over again the kids tried to make the basket. The tensions were high just like it was a real basket ball game with the kids really hyped up and cheering their teammates on. Even the parents were getting into it. When someone almost made a basket everyone would tense up and you would hear the "Awes" throughout the gym when they missed. It was really funny and happened over and over again. Finally, after who knows how many attempts, when it was Jullian's turn again, he made the winning three-point shot and everyone was jumping and cheering like it was a real basketball game. Jullian, of course, being the controlled individual he is, only let a little smirk of a smile appear on his face. He was excited, but was playing it cool and wouldn't let it show - that's just the way he is.
