Did You See The Eclipse?

This evening there was a lunar eclipse. Did you see it? A lunar eclipse is when the earth is between the sun and the moon and the shadow of the earth from the sun is cast upon the moon. The moon becomes darker while the shadow of the earth moves across its surface. If you were on the moon you would see a red ring around the earth because of the way the light from the sun bends around its surface. From the earth the moon appear reddish in color because of the light reflecting off the dirt on its surface. Pretty cool stuff! Anyway, there was a lunar eclipse tonight and all seven continents should have been able to see some portion of it from the beginning to end. On the east coast we were able to see the full eclipse. It was a really cool sight to see.

Of course, I took a few shots of it. Below are a few of them combined into a collage. The last two images are as the earth's shadow was moving off of the moon. Once the shadow had moved completely off of the moon it looked like a regular full moon. Click on the image to see a larger size of it.
